The Fremont County Library – Lander dedicated its new facility in March 2009. The 12,000 ft. addition expands the library to over 24,000 sq. ft.

Every effort was made to make the new library as “green” as possible. For example, the chairs in the conference room are made from recycled batteries. The library is well insulated, designed to take advantage of the southern exposure, uses natural light whenever possible, has sensors to control restroom lighting and water use, has low flow plumbing fixtures throughout, has carpet made from 50% recycled materials and has a ground exchange heating and cooling system.

The interior carpeting and furnishings were purposely selected to reflect the subtle colors of the Wyoming landscape. The Lander Library Friends Association is raising funds to install a landscape mural in the cove ceiling on the main floor of the library. This 200+ ft mural will be a reflection of the Fremont County landscape, one more effort to bring our beautiful outdoors in!

A twenty seat computer lab is available during regular operating hours and laptops are also available for checkout. The library also offers free wi-fi service for patrons. Printing is available for a small fee. Computers are also available for children and teens in their respective areas. Meeting rooms are available to the public on a first come, first served basis. Bookings will be handled at the main circulation desk.

Can’t find a book, movie or other item? Interlibrary loan from other system libraries in the county are available for free and from other Wyoming counties or beyond for the cost of postage.
